The highly contested race for State Representative in the 9th Bristol District has been decided.

Chris Markey will be vying for a third term in office this November after winning the Democratic primary Tuesday. He tells WBSM News he's ready for the next step.
Markey defeated opponent Alan Garcia by nearly 800 votes.
He will face Republican Patrick Curran in the November general election.
Markey plans to have more community engagement leading up to the election to raise voter turnout. He says low voter turnout, especially with students at UMass Dartmouth, is something to address going forward.
Zero votes were cast from the school's precinct in April's town election and three were cast in Tuesday's primary.
Fifteen percent of registered voters in Dartmouth took part in the primaries and less than 11 percent in New Bedford.
