Man Struck by Car, Killed on I-195 in Seekonk Thursday
SEEKONK — A man is dead after he was struck by a car on I-195 Thursday night.
Massachusetts State Police say at approximately 6:40 p.m., Troopers assigned to the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a car on I-195 West between Exits 1 and 2 in Seekonk.
Upon arrival, the Troopers discovered a white male, either in his twenties or early thirties, that had been struck by a 2019 Toyota Rav4 and was unconscious in the left travel lane. The operator of the Toyota remained on scene and fully cooperated with police.
A preliminary investigation indicates that, for reasons currently unknown, the man was walking eastbound in the left travel lane of I-195 West before he was struck by the Rav4.
The man was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries.
This crash remains under investigation by Troopers assigned to the Dartmouth Barracks with assistance from the State Police Collison Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
State Police were assisted on scene by Seekonk Fire and EMS, Seekonk Police, and MassDOT.
Troopers are actively working to identify the man.
