NEW BEDFORD — One man has been injured in a shooting Monday in New Bedford's South End and is currently at St. Luke's Hospital for treatment, as police investigate.

Police spokesman Lt. Scott Carola confirmed that shots were fired at around noon on Monday near Division Street and Acushnet Avenue.

The man arrived at St. Luke's with a non-life-threatening injury, according to Carola.

Unconfirmed scanner reports indicate several bullet holes were discovered in at least one vehicle.

"The investigation remains very active at this time," Carola wrote in a statement to WBSM News.

No further information has been released.
