FALL RIVER — A man trying to get away from immigration officials found himself trapped on the roof of a Fall River newspaper.

The Herald News reports the man jumped onto the roof of the paper's building around noon on Wednesday.

According to his lawyer, the man, identified only as Dennis, was about to attend a pretrial conference hearing at the Fall River Justice Center and was putting money in a parking meter outside when Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers tried to detain him. The man fled, and made his way to the roof of the building.

Officers used a Fall River Fire Department ladder truck to reach Dennis, who has been hospitalized for an ankle injury he likely received when jumping onto the roof.

He'll be placed in ICE custody once he's released from the hospital.
