Man, Believed to be High on Crack, Assaults New Bedford Police

NEW BEDFORD - Edmund A. Green, 54, of 193 Summer St., New Bedford, was arrested early Monday on charges of possession of crack cocaine and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer.

Police responded to a disturbance early Monday that resulted in a call for medics for an individual who was believed to be high on crack cocaine.

As officers searched him prior to getting him into the ambulance, he slapped one officer and pushed another. A bag of crack cocaine was found on him.

The arrest was made at 3:45 am.
