Man Arrested On Drug Charges After South End Traffic Stop
A New Bedford man is facing drug charges after a Saturday afternoon traffic stop in the South End.
Detective Captain Steven Vicente says members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau stopped a Volkswagen around 2 p.m. on Fair St.
The stop was made as a result of an investigation.
The driver, identified as 22-year-old Eric Matthew DeSousa, was arrested after he was found in possession of approximately 32 grams of heroin.
Search warrants were then obtained for the Volkswagen, his home at 21 Milford St., and his parents' home at 526 Bolton St.
Vicente says that during those searches police an additional 274 grams of heroin, a digital scale, packaging material, seven cell phones, and $8716 in cash.
The street value for the total 306 grams of heroin is estimated at approximately $30,000.
DeSousa was scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning on drug trafficking charges in New Bedford District Court.
