Man Arrested in Connection to Brockton Murder
BROCKTON — A suspect has been taken into custody in Boston over the weekend in connection to a homicide in Brockton last week.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said 24-year-old Asa St. Louis was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of fatally shooting 28-year-old Nelito Lopes in the head on Wednesday evening.
Police said officers responded to the scene at Prospect and Walnut Streets at around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
They arrived to find a Honda Civic crashed into a utility pole with a man behind the wheel suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was medflighted to a hospital in Boston, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the District Attorney's office, an arrest warrant was issued for St. Louis early Saturday morning.
He was thought to be in Boston.
Brockton police worked with state police detectives and Boston police to find St. Louis and take him into custody.
He was arrested at 7:35 a.m. Sunday without incident, the D.A.'s office said.
St. Louis is set to be arraigned today on a murder charge in Brockton District Court.
