Major Gun Seizure in Fairhaven
Fairhaven Police arrested a man on multiple weapons charges, in addition to drug charges, last Tuesday.
Gary Rosonina, 40, formerly of Arizona, drew the attention of Fairhaven Police when it was discovered he was squatting in the basement of a multifamily Fairhaven home in which his parents were renters. After an argument with the homeowners, Rosonina relocated to the Huttleston Motel. Police searched the basement of the home and found several unsecured firearms. They also discovered Rosonina had an active warrant for motor vehicle offenses and no firearms license.
Police set up surveillance outside the motel, and arrested Rosonina when he attempted to leave the motel in his vehicle. He was take into custody without incident.
Inside his motel room, police found a 12-gauge shotgun, a .45-caliber handgun and an AR-15 rifle equipped with a 37-millimeter grenade launcher. Police also seized a small quantity of heroin and methamphetamine.
Back in the basement of the residence, police seized another 12-gauge shotgun, several handguns, 12 high-capacity feeding devices and assorted ammunition.
All firearms seized had been left loaded and unsecured.
Rosonina has been charged with possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of ammunition, 12 counts of unlawful possession of a high capacity feeding device, eight counts of improper storage of a firearm and eight counts of possession of a firearm without a gun license.
He is being held without bail until a show cause hearing on February 24.
