Lt. Governor Murray To Resign

Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray plans to resign after being named to head a private business group. 

The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce voted Wednesday to appoint Murray as its President and CEO. 

Murray said his resignation would be effective June 2.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Murray said he had not been looking for a new job and that the Chamber approached him a month ago about the opportunity. 

Murray added his departure has nothing to do with an ongoing investigation into whether his campaign committee improperly accepted contributions raised by former Chelsea Housing Authority Director Michael Mclaughlin.
