It's been some time since oil prices have been as low as they are right now, which is good news for New Englanders who must consider their heating bill during the colder months.

Bruce Morell, director of People Acting in Community Endeavors, or PACE, says the organization's fuel assistance program may be able to help out more applicants this year.

But there's another side to the coin.

Over 7,000 households have applied for fuel assistance through PACE this year. The maximum benefit is $1,025 for those who heat their homes with oil.
