Two small fires last night in Fall River, both apparently caused by lightning strikes.

Fire officials say the first happened at 208 Mohawk Drive around 6:15pm, when lightning struck the southest corner of the house. The occupants put out the fire with a garden hose and fire extinguisher.

According to the Herald News, the second fire happened around 20 minutes later at 298 Indian Town Road. That fire, caused by either a lightning strike or power surge, resulted in some interior damage to the home.

No injuries were reported in either incident. Fire crews from both Fall River and Westport responded to the fires.
