Lawyer: Ortiz Had No Knowledge of Alleged Lloyd Murder Plot

An attorney for Carlos Ortiz says the friend of Hernandez thought it was a routine hang-out session before Odin Lloyd was shot and killed.

Ortiz was in court for a pre-trial hearing Thursday. Defense attorney John Connors says his client had no knowledge of an alleged plot to kill Lloyd, and only wanted to hang out with his football-star-friend, Aaron Hernandez.

Connors told the judge he needs more time to sift through evidence in order to properly defend Ortiz against a murder accessory charge.

A trial date has yet to be set, but lawyers will confer with a judge next month.
