Lawmakers Asking Why Officer Gannon’s Killer was Free
(Boston, MA) -- Several lawmakers are calling for an investigation into the shooting death of Yarmouth police officer Sean Gannon.
The lawmakers want to know why the suspect, a career criminal, was not in jail. Reports indicate the suspect, Thomas Latanowich, had been charged more than 125 times and only spent about four years in prison.
The Boston Globe reports the lawmakers want an oversight hearing to identify lapses in the criminal justice system.
Gannon was shot and killed while serving a warrant on April 12th.
Latanowich has been charged with murder and remains held without bail.
