FALL RIVER — A fatal crash involving three vehicles saw a Lakeville man struck and killed on Route 24 in Fall River, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Police said that at around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, troopers responded to the scene on Route 24 northbound at mile marker 0.8 in Fall River.

According to their preliminary investigation, a 2004 Ford pickup truck driven by a 28-year-old Tiverton man was traveling southbound when it crossed the median into the northbound lanes, striking a 2019 Chevy pickup truck.

The 35-year-old driver, a man from Lakeville, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the Ford was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A third vehicle, a compact SUV driven by a 26-year-old man from Fall River, was also involved in the crash, although it was able to be driven from the scene and no injuries were sustained by any of the occupants.

Police said it is unclear why the Ford pickup crossed over the median.

State police closed the southbound left travel lane and northbound right travel lane for around two hours.

They said the crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Bristol County State Police Detective Unit.
