Keep the Cultures of the SouthCoast Alive With Discovery Language Academy

Learn a new language with the Discovery Language Academy! With four styles of classes, there is a chance for anyone to learn.

Discovery Language Academy, located inside of the DeMello International Center at 128 Union Street in New Bedford, is now enrolling for their 2018-2019 school year.  Over the past 30 years, hundreds of kids have graduated from the Discovery Language Academy.

Kids in Kindergarten through Grade 9 can enroll in Portuguese acquisition classes (Portuguese as a Second Language). The levels include Pre-Production-Kindergarten; Early Production-Grade 1; Speech Emergent-Grades 2 and 3; Intermediate Fluent-Grades 4 and 5; Advanced Fluent-Grades 6, 7, 8 and 9.

If you are an older learner, you can enroll in Conversational Portuguese for adults, English as a Second Language for adults or even Conversational Spanish for adults (taught by a native speaker.) This past academic year there were students who were over the age of 70 and still attending, simply because they wanted to learn about the language and culture. There are no limits to learning.

Classes begin on September 10, and registration is going on now through August 30. Enroll in any of the classes listed above and begin learning a new language, as well as folkloric dance, in as little as two hours per week. See their full list of class times here.
