Inflation Swirls Prices at Some SouthCoast Dunkin’ Locations
Don't look now, but that extra swirl of pumpkin spice syrup just might add to the cost of your favorite drink at some area Dunkin' locations.
Some Dunkin' spots, including the store on South Main Street in Acushnet and the one on Plaza Way in Fairhaven, have added an upcharge for extra swirls.
A sign on the door at the Plaza Way location states: "Due to rising costs of goods, we will be charging $0.10 for each extra swirl."
The South Main Street location breaks down even further how much more an "extra pump of swirl" will cost you by explaining how many pumps the "standard amount" of swirl is for each size drink: "SM 2 Pumps, MD 3 Pumps, LG 4 Pumps." Each additional swirl will cost you a dime.
According to MASHED.com, not all Dunkin' stores have added the extra charge for additional syrup swirls. The decision to charge more is up to the individual Dunkin' locations, many of which are franchises.

MASHED.com cites a Reddit comment, allegedly from a Dunkin' employee, that says, "Corporate sent us a message about this a few days ago, they streamlined the process for franchises to do it (via app etc) but still recommend not doing it."
I have not seen notices about the swirl pump increases at all area Dunkin' locations which seems to support the suggestion that it is up to franchise owners to decide what to do.
I was unable to find anything on the company's website that addresses the controversy that may be swirling around about this upcharge.
