Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the projected winner of the Massachusetts Democratic Presidential Primary.

In a tight race throughout, Clinton edged Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, 51 to 48 percent. Recent polls showed the race to be neck-and-neck over the past few weeks, with both Clinton and Sanders making campaign appearances in the days leading up to Primary Day.

Clinton may have been given a boost on Tuesday by her husband, former President Bill Clinton who made campaign stops in Boston, Taunton and New Bedford, drawing large crowds along the way.

In New Bedford, Bill Clinton told reporters he had been well received in Massachusetts when he ran for President, and Hillary won a "magnificent" primary victory here in 2008, and he hoped it would be repeated on Tuesday.

The victory was probably closer than the Clinton campaign wanted, but its a victory that along with other wins on Super Tuesday, puts Hillary Clinton close to clinching the Democratic nomination.
