HBO has given the green light to a second season of Julian Fellowes' "The Gilded Age" and filming is set to return to Rhode Island this spring.

The show centers around several extravagantly wealthy New York families who, of course, summer in Newport. Best of all, the show actually films many summer scenes at real Newport mansions and often seeks local actors and extras.

In fact, right now, casting agents have a call out across Rhode Island and surrounding areas for highly skilled tennis players.

'Gilded Age' Calling All Tennis Players

Very specific, I know. Seems the show needs people with real tennis skills to play in the background of scenes set at an 1880s tennis championship. So, also expect to wear some very fancy clothes when you play.

Casting agency Grant Wilfley Casting Inc. put out the call from New York to Rhode Island searching for "highly skilled tennis player to play 1880s tennis champion. Scenes will be filmed sometime between May 9 - May 13, 2022 in Newport, Rhode Island."

Newport is home to the International Tennis Hall of Fame where it maintains beautiful Newport Casino, first opened on July 26, 1880. Presumably, this building and the grass tennis court on its grounds will be the site of some "Gilded Age" filming this spring.

How to Apply for 'The Gilded Age'

Extras will be needed for several Newport scenes regardless of tennis skills as well. Grant Wilfley Casting put out an additional call for background extras during the May filming. All applications can be filed via the website. The casting company requests that everyone applying be OK filming around smoke. Women must be willing to wear corsets. Costume fittings will be required before filming and applicants must have natural-looking hair colors only.

Presumably, these shoots will also bring many of the show's stars to Rhode Island. That means more celebrities around Newport this spring. If you are looking for celebs who hail from the Ocean State, keep scrolling below.

Rhode Island may be the smallest state in the nation, but it has been home to many celebrities. Though some have moved here, filmed here or attended school here, only a handful were actually born here. These are those celebrities.
