Handguns, Marijuana, Cocaine Seized from New Bedford Apartment
NEW BEDFORD - Two guns and drugs have been seized after New Bedford Police raid a Richmond Street apartment.
Members of the New Bedford Police Narcotics Unit carried out a search warrant at around 6 p.m. at 137 Richmond Street, Apt. 1, after an investigation into a cocaine delivery service operating out of that address. In the apartment, police recovered 384 grams of marijuana and a small amount of cocaine. Police also discovered a Glock 23 .40 caliber high capacity handgun, a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver, packaging materials, a digital scale, and $4,030 in cash.
Police arrested the occupant of the apartment, Waylan Smith, 20, and charged him with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a firearm without a license, improper storage of a firearm (large capacity) and improper storage of a firearm (non large capacity).
