Gas Main Struck in Acushnet

ACUSHNET — A portion of Hathaway Road was temporarily closed this afternoon, following a gas main being struck by an excavator.

Acushnet Police say the report came in at 4:29 p.m. of a gas main struck by an excavator in the area of 148 Hathaway Road. They say as a precaution, Hathaway Road was temporarily closed to through traffic, between Wing Lane and Brookside Drive.

Police say Eversource Gas crews arrived on scene at 4:59, and the road was reopened by 5:04 p.m.
