Free Laundry Day Returns to Dartmouth and New Bedford This Weekend
Dash Laundromat is turning laundry day into a community celebration this Sunday with its 3rd Annual Free Laundry Day, and for the first time, it’s happening at two locations.
From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., guests can wash and dry their clothes for free at both 1 State Road in Dartmouth (Shaw’s Plaza) and the brand-new 124 Rodney French Boulevard location in New Bedford.
No registration is required.
Giving Back Through Free Laundry Day
Owner Jason Araujo said what started as a simple business move has grown into something much bigger.
“The first year we did it just to get customers through the door as a new business,” Araujo said. “But after seeing how much it meant to people, some who are literally counting nickels and dimes just to wash their clothes, we opened it up completely. Now, it’s about giving back to the community that supports us.”

SouthCoast’s Largest Laundromat Opens Its Doors
This weekend also marks the soft opening of Dash’s second location, which Araujo said is the largest laundromat in the SouthCoast. At 6,000 square feet, the New Bedford location features four massive 100-pound washers, eight large-capacity 80-pound washers, free Wi-Fi, 85-inch TVs, and even TouchTunes so customers can play DJ while folding.
“This new store was a huge learning experience for me,” Araujo said. “But what a way to kick things off, opening weekend and giving back at the same time.”
What to Expect at Free Laundry Day
Free Laundry Day will be a celebration in itself, complete with Gary’s Best Hot Dogs, coffee and donuts, giveaways throughout the day, and special laundry discounts via the Speed Queen app, where customers will get a $5 bonus for every $10 spent. Araujo said even if you don’t have laundry to do, you’re invited to stop in and say hello.
“Come check us out, meet the staff, and see what we’ve built,” he said. “This is as much a 'thank you' to our existing customers as it is a helping hand to those who need it most.”
Where and When to Go
If you plan to go, head to either 1 State Road in Dartmouth or 124 Rodney French Boulevard in New Bedford anytime between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Sunday. First come, first served – and leave with clean clothes, good vibes and maybe even a prize.
