Four More Retail Marijuana Licenses Approved
BOSTON (AP) - The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission has approved final licenses for four more retail marijuana shops in Fall River, Hudson, Pittsfield, and Great Barrington.
The commission signed off on the licenses for Northeast Alternatives, Temescal Wellness, and Theory Wellness during a meeting Thursday at the Statehouse.
Northeast Alternatives applied for a retail license for Fall River. Theory Wellness wants to open a shop in Great Barrington. And Temescal Wellness is hoping to open shops in Hudson and Pittsfield.
The votes come just days ahead of the planned opening this weekend of the state's third retail marijuana shop by Alternative Therapies Group in Salem.
The first two recreational marijuana shops on the U.S. East Coast opened last month in Leicester and Northampton.
Those two have generated more than $7 million in sales.
