FALL RIVER — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Fall River man who is accused of scamming a local woman out of her car and a substantial amount of cash.

Robert Goodrich, 56, formerly of Fall River, has been added to the Bristol County Most Wanted Fugitives List. The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says Goodrich convinced a woman to allow him to be the "middleman" to help her purchase a used car.

Authorities say Goodrich stole the vehicle the woman intended to trade for a new one. He also allegedly stole the title for the woman's car and $8,500 in cash.

The theft reportedly took place in late February of this year.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says Goodrich is known to have ties to Fall River, Brockton, and Tiverton, Rhode Island. He has numerous prior convictions for stealing cars and other theft-related crimes dating back to the 1980s.

Goodrich is wanted on a warrant charging him with larceny of a motor vehicle, larceny over $250 by false pretense, and larceny under $1,200.

Anyone with information on Goodrich's whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Bristol County District Attorney's Office at 508-997-0711, or submit an anonymous tip by texting the word "Bristol" to CRIMES (274637) followed by the tip.
