Five Killed in Wrong-Way Crash in Middleborough

Five people are dead following a wrong-way crash in Middleborough this morning.

Massachusetts State Police say the crash took place shortly after 12am this morning when a vehicle with one occupant heading southbound on the northbound side of the highway struck a car carrying four people near Exit 3. All five people involved in the accident have died.

State Police are still gathering information about the victims and the crash remains under investigation.

I-495 northbound near the scene of the crash was closed for over five hours as police investigated. The highway reopened at 5:30 this morning.
