This Rochester Police Officer is the second titleholder in our First Responder of the Month program.

WBSM along with our sponsors, Sam Karam and Sons, named Rochester Police Officer, Alyson Rego of New Bedford the First Responder of the Month for April of 2019. Rego received a nomination for serving her community.

One nomination letter mentioned Rego's hard work and compassion for others:

"Aly Rego has always wanted to make an impact on her local community. She goes above and beyond to make sure she protects and gets to know her residents around Rochester. She helps children with their lemonade stands, shovels driveways for her elderly neighbor and stays informed about her local community organizations. Aly is young at heart but mature in the aspect of life. She’s a great role model and a wonderful first responder!” -Anonymous

Special thanks to Chief Robert Small for helping us organize the surprise visit. She was presented with a gift card to Dunkin, which is sure to help keep her awake during her normal midnight to 8 am shift. Her appreciation for this honor was made evident in her Facebook post:

When Ms. Rego isn't working, she spends time at her new home, playing with her dog Gemma, or beekeeping.

If you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their hard work and commitment as a first responder, nominate them below so we can honor them for their selfless acts of courage, compassion, and loyalty to the job force they signed up for, knowing that there would and will be challenging days ahead of them.

Kudos, Ms. Rego, keep up the great work!
