Fire Destroys Car, Heavily Damages New Bedford Home
NEW BEDFORD — A home in the North End of New Bedford sustained heavy damage as the result of a fire on Friday evening.
The fire was reported at approximately 5:30 p.m. at a single-family home at 34 Agnes Street. The neighborhood is located between Phillips Road and Church Street.
Multiple fire apparatus responded to the scene. The fire was quickly brought under control.
A post on the New Bedford Firefighters IAFF Local 841 Facebook page indicates that the fire began as a car fire.
Photos from the scene show a completely burned out car parked underneath a carport which is attached to the home. The carport and the side of the house showed extensive exterior fire damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
