A Dartmouth jewelry store sustained significant damage after a fire Thursday morning.

District Three Fire Chief Richard Arruda told the Standard Times that the fire took place at the Hannoush Jewelers which is located across from the Dartmouth Mall on Route 6.

The fire was reported at 11 a.m. and Arruda says crews were on the scene for several hours before returning to the station around 3 p.m.

Construction work was being done on the roof deck and it appears that sparks from cutting started a fire that spread across the roof.

Firefighters cut open the store's roof in order to fight the flames.

The store's Facebook page thanked the firefighters and said that even though the building sustained damage there were no injuries and that they can soon restart building.
