Fatal Crash Causes Multiple Deaths Among Tourists
ATTLEBORO — A rollover crash of a passenger van on Route 95 in Attleboro Saturday morning resulted in two deaths and nine seriously injured.
Massachusetts State Police officials say at about 11:05 a.m., a 2004 Ford Econoline was traveling northbound on Route 95 near Exit 3 when it was struck by a Toyota RAV-4, which was also traveling northbound in an adjacent lane. Police say the van crossed the median and rolled over into the southbound travel lanes. All 11 people in the van were ejected during the rollover. All were transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where two of the occupants have been pronounced dead.
The occupants of the van were part of a large tour group which caters the Polish American community. At this time, police believe this tour may have picked up passengers in Philidelphia, PA, Trenton, Linden, and Wallington, NJ, and New York City with a destination of multiple sites in Massachusetts.
This crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Troop H Detectives, and Troopers assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
No charges have been filed at this time.
