A fallen utility pole caused over 1000 Fairhaven homes to lose power Thursday morning.

Sergeant Kevin Kobza says the pole rotted out at the base and fell on to the pumping station on Pilgrim Avenue just before 5:00 a.m.

Nstar spokesperson Kerry Britland says the outage mainly affected the Adams Street area and crews were able to restore power to roughly half the affected homes within minutes.

Britland says a transformer had to be replaced and power was restored to nearly all homes by 7:00 a.m.
