Fall River Woman Found Dead After Apartment Fire

FALL RIVER - A Fall River woman has been found dead after a fire in her apartment over the weekend.

Bristol County District Attorney spokesman Gregg Miliote says Diane Roy, 69, of 164 Hartwell Street, was found deceased in her apartment after Fall River firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the address.

Officials say the fire was reported Saturday afternoon, and was contained to the bathroom of the apartment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy on Roy's body to determine the exact cause of death. However, Miliote tells WBSM News "it appears she died prior to the small fire."
