A 25-year-old Fall River woman faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after she allegedly hit a Walmart shopper repeatedly in the head with her cell phone.

Police in Saugus say a woman contacted them Sunday morning to report seeing a video posted to social media depicting the alleged attack at the Saugus Walmart on June 27. The woman sent the link to police and informed them that one of the people who commented on the post had identified herself as the aggressor, according to a local news report.

Additionally, on June 28, a 28-year-old Winthrop woman came to the police station to report she was the victim, Saugus police said.

The video, which police confirmed was shot at the Saugus Walmart, showed a woman on top of another woman hitting her repeatedly in the head with a cell phone and also with an open hand, police said.

Based on the video and conversations with the alleged victim, police summonsed a 25-year-old Fall River woman on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.

The unnamed suspect was set to be arraigned on the charges at Lynn District Court.
