Beloved Fall River Summer Tradition Is Returning With 40 Free Events
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — The City of Fall River announced the return of “Summer Evenings in the Park” on Wednesday nights this July and August.
The “Summer Evenings in the Park” program is a series of “free family-centric events that will feature live music, arts and crafts, food and fun,” according to a release. This is the sixth consecutive year for the program.
“It’s a great Fall River tradition that continues to bring our community together each year, giving local children and families the opportunity to have fun, connect with one another, and create lasting memories in our city,” Mayor Paul Coogan said.
What to Expect at Fall River's Summer Evenings in the Park
There will be 40 events in 14 different parks across Fall River. The events take place every Wednesday night in July and August from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and are a collaborative effort between the City, the Narrows Center for the Arts, and Bristol County Savings Bank.
“One of the missions of the Narrows is to make the arts accessible to all in our community. This is an opportunity for the Narrows to bring what we do into the neighborhoods of Fall River,” Narrows Center Executive Director Patrick Norton said. “The arts are a great way to enliven neighborhoods, to bring people together, and to create a sense of community. We are excited to partner with the City of Fall River on this important project.”

“As a community bank we are always looking for ways to work together with the city and local organizations like the Narrows to help make the neighborhood we serve an even better place to live and work,” said John Silva, CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank. “Over the years, ‘Summer Evenings in the Park’ has been a great example of this mission in practice, and it’s been gratifying to see the event continue to grow in popularity throughout the community.”
Free Meals and Grocery Distribution for Families
Greater Fall River Recreation will provide hot dogs and hamburgers at the events, and the City is partnering with the Greater Fall River Food Bank, Citizens for Citizens, and Angels Anonymous to provide a bag of groceries for families attending the events.
