Fall River Stabbing on North Main Street Under Investigation
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A stabbing that occurred earlier this morning in Fall River is under investigation with one person left suffering an injury.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., police received a report that a male had been stabbed in the area of 141 North Main Street.
Officers located a 44-year-old male with what appeared to be a stab wound to his abdomen.
The male was transported to a local trauma center for medical treatment. He is currently in stable condition, according to police.
Wayne Souza, 57, has been arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and assault and battery.
Investigators said they have begun conducting a thorough canvas of the area and speaking to witnesses.
Through their investigation, it was learned that the male victim and the suspect engaged in a brief verbal argument moments prior to the attack.
The incident remains under investigation.
