Fall River Maple Gardens Shooting Injures 14-Year-Old Boy
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting of a 14-year-old Fall River boy Thursday night.
Fall River Police Department spokesman Sgt. Moses Pereira said a 17-year-old boy was taken into custody Friday morning.
Officers received a call at 8 p.m. Thursday night regarding shots fired at the Maple Gardens housing complex on Miller Street. They found the 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his face, Pereira said in a news release.
The victim was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence with potentially life-threatening injuries, He is now in stable condition, Pereira said.
The suspect, who has not been named, is charged with assault and battery with a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a loaded firearm without a license to carry, receiving stolen property and carrying a firearm without a license to carry.
Pereria said detectives are still investigating but “current information indicates that the victim was not targeted and this may have been unintentional.”
