If you are a pet owner, you know firsthand how much joy it brings to your life. Whether you are an experienced pet owner or ready to own a pet for the first time, I ask you to consider adoption. There are dozens of adorable pets on the SouthCoast that are looking to call someplace home, and it’s my mission to get the word out about these lovable animals.

I’ve teamed up with animal shelters in the area to present Wet Nose Wednesday every week and give the spotlight to an adoptable pet. This week, get ready to fall in love with Olivia.

Olivia is a 10-year-old chihuahua that currently resides at Forever Paws Animal Shelter in Fall River. She had a wonderful place to call home, but after her owners passed away, the family was unable to keep her. Ten years old is considered a senior dog, but it's not that old for chihuahuas, and this little girl is a ball of energy.

Forever Paws tells me that she has a wonderful personality, is lively, and loves to be with people. She looks forward to her daily walk and has done well with other animals in the past. Olivia will do best in a home with older children or an adult home, and be prepared for cuddles.

Olivia is a fighter. She suffers from a Grade 3 heart murmur, but do not let that deter you from her loving character. She has been seen by multiple veterinarians and the general consensus is that it does not bother her right now, and may never bother her. She does not require any daily medication or special treatment, but her new owners will have to follow up with a veterinarian and monitor the murmur.

Are you interested in meeting Olivia? Contact Forever Paws Animal Shelter and set up an appointment to meet her after applying on their website.
