Fall River Police arrested an 18-year old male and took a .45-caliber Glock pistol off the street.

The arrest was made Thursday evening at a convenience store in the city's Corky Row neighborhood. Captain Barden Castro said detectives spotted a group of men acting suspiciously inside the store and saw what appeared to be a bag of narcotics in possession of one of the men.

The detectives then entered the store and approached the men, asking if they had any weapons. All of the men were frisked and one weapon was recovered, a .45-caliber loaded Glock pistol.

Taken into custody was 18-year old Joshua Holmes, who police said was in possession of the handgun. Police said due to his age, Holmes is not legally permitted to carry a firearm under Massachusetts law. Holmes was charged with felony firearms violations.

Detectives are still trying to determine the status of the recovered pistol.
