FALL RIVER — Fall River police have confirmed that despite rumors to the contrary circulating on social media, there has been no report of a kidnapping in the city last night.

Someone had posted about the alleged incident just before 9 p.m. last night to a large Facebook group for following Fall River's police and fire scanner transmissions.

According to the scanner, a man had apparently called police regarding a possible kidnapping that they had witnessed near Peckham and East Main Streets.

The caller apparently reported seeing a young male yelling for his mother before a dark-colored sedan pulled up, and the young man was apparently shoved into the car.

But according to Fall River Police Captain Barden Castro, there have been no reported kidnappings or attempted kidnappings in the area recently.

Castro added that if such an incident is reported, it will be investigated.
