A Fall River man was airlifted to the trauma unit at Rhode Island Hospital after being struck by a car on State Road in Dartmouth last night, according to a press release from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Dartmouth Police responded to the area of 671 State Road at around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, and found that a man had been struck by a white BMW 323i. The driver remained on the scene.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Ryan Silvia of Fall River. First responders found him by the side of the road with "significant injuries." The man on Friday remained hospitalized in critical condition, according to the DA's office.

Massachusetts State Police detectives from the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III responded to the scene and are being assisted in an active an ongoing investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Dartmouth detectives.

Authorities said no further information will be released at this time. The Moby Dick Hotel is located at 671 State Road in Dartmouth.
