Something soulful is stirring in Fall River, and it’s coming straight from the Azores.

The Narrows Center for the Arts is turning up the volume on Azorean pride on Friday, May 30 as Romeu Bairos, a rising star from the Netflix hit Rabo de Peixe, gears up for a one-night-only concert that paints both heart and heritage.

Romeu Bairos: From São Miguel to the Spotlight

Born in Furnas, São Miguel, Bairos has been captivating audiences with his haunting vocals and a fresh twist on traditional Azorean music. His debut album Romê das Furnas dropped this February and is already making waves, blending folk instruments like the viola de dois corações with modern sounds that hit you right in the feels.

If you watched him in Rabo de Peixe or caught his run as a finalist on Portugal’s Festival da Canção in 2021, you already know this guy doesn’t just perform, he transports you to the Azores through his music.

Tori Costa Brings the Fado Rock Fusion

The night kicks off with Tori Costa, whose genre-bending style channels both the drama of Portuguese fado and the flair of vintage rock. Think Carmen Miranda-meets-Stevie Nicks, wrapped in a powerful contralto voice that sings in both English and Portuguese. She’s been lighting up the Portuguese-American music scene, and you won’t want to miss her set.

Food, Fun and Familiar Faces

Because no celebration is complete without food, Avo’s Feast will be onsite dishing out its fan-favorite Portuguese "Feast Food."

The evening is hosted by The Portuguese Kids, Derrick and Brian, whose hilarious takes on growing up Portuguese-American have earned them a massive following (and lots of laughs).

Tickets are just $25 in advance or $27 at the door (no hidden fees), and can be snagged now at the Narrows Center website.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the music starts at 8 p.m.

Whether you’re Portuguese or just looking for a night where traditional meets modern music, this is one event that hits all the right notes.
