Fall River Motorcyclist Recovered in Taunton River Identified
A body recovered Monday on the banks of the Taunton River downstream from the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Fall River is that of 35-year-old Gary Amaral, a Fall River man, Massachusetts State Police confirmed Wednesday.
Police say Amaral was ejected over the railing of the bridge and into the river during a motorcycle crash early Sunday.
At about 12:20 a.m., troopers found a 2020 Kawasaki Z125 Pro on the eastbound ramp from the Rt. 6 bridge to Route 79 south. Troopers found a shoe, but the rider was nowhere in sight. The U.S. Coast Guard, the Massachusetts State Police Dive Team, and police from Fall River and Somerset conducted a search.
Amaral’s body was found Monday on the riverbank in the area of Riverview Drive, state police said.
