Fall River Mom Praised by YouTube Star Ms. Rachel for Halloween Costume
Who said Halloween had to be spooky or scary?
Michele Antunes of Fall River was in for a surprise when her Halloween costume of beloved children’s entertainer Ms. Rachel received a heartfelt response from the YouTube star herself.
Known for her hit educational channel Songs for Littles, Ms. Rachel – portrayed by Rachel Griffin Accurso – is celebrated for her engaging music-based videos that help young children develop language, counting, and emotional skills.
When Antunes posted her spot-on costume to Instagram, she didn’t expect Ms. Rachel to notice, but the educator gave her approval with a “like” and three pink heart emojis in the comments.
“NOT MS. Rachel liking and commenting on my Halloween costume video of her!” Antunes shared excitedly on Facebook, thrilled by the acknowledgment.
Antunes, 34, decided on the costume because Ms. Rachel has been a source of comfort for her nearly one-year-old son who has faced several medical challenges, including multiple surgeries. Ms. Rachel's videos, which emphasize positive reinforcement and inclusivity through sign language and diverse representation, have provided relief and engagement for both mother and baby.
The costume was so convincing that even Antunes' friend’s child believed she was the real Ms. Rachel during a FaceTime call.
“So many kids like her; it was a fun costume and a no-brainer,” Antunes said, delighted at the joy it brought to those around her.
Since launching Songs for Littles, Ms. Rachel has reached millions of families, combining educational expertise and a warm, approachable teaching style.
For Antunes and her youngest son, who both adore Ms. Rachel’s videos, the Halloween exchange added a heartwarming personal connection with the star who’s already part of their daily life.
