FALL RIVER - The mayoral race in Fall River has been narrowed down to two candidates.

Incumbent Mayor Jasiel Correia took the bulk of the vote in Tuesday's preliminary election with 3,938 votes, with City Council President Linda Pereira trailing with 3,173 votes, a 9% margin between the two candidates.

According to the Herald News, voter turnout was low with only 18.4% of registered voters in Fall River heading to the polls.

Candidates Richard Cabaceiras, Jordan James Silvia, and Ronald Cabral have all been eliminated from the race, garnering only about 17% of the vote.

The final election in Fall River is November 7.
