The climate has changed and will continue to change until the Earth explodes, turns into a ball of ice, or floats away into oblivion.

Whatever your views on climate change or what you believe is responsible for those changes, we should all agree that the climate has continuously changed since there has been a planet.

Earth's climate has never been consistent for any length of time.

The Massachusetts Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs has posted its report "Adapting to Climate Change" on its website. The report is an update of sorts to 2023's State Hazard Mitigation and Climate Adaption Plan (SHMCAP), ResilientMass.

It must be a serious report as the state has posted it in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Chinese and Vietnamese.

No Canadian French, eh?

The report states, "The best climate science for Massachusetts continues to stress three findings: temperatures have gone up over the years and will continue to increase; there could be both fewer rainy days and more intense rainstorms; and sea levels will rise and combine with more powerful coastal storms."

Climate Check has reviewed the 351 cities and towns that comprise Massachusetts and says, "Of these top cities in Massachusetts, the city with the highest overall risk (from climate change) is Boston. The city with the lowest overall risk is Fall River."

Climate Check's website has graphics and theories about the communities it believes are at the greatest risk of flood, heat, fire, and precipitation because of climate change.

The site even has a tool that allows you to enter your address to get an "instant risk assessment" for where you live.

Though Fall River's overall risk from climate change is the lowest in the state, Climate Check says the city faces "extreme" precipitation, a "high" heat risk, a "significant" drought risk, a "relatively low" flood risk, and a "relatively low" fire risk.

For the record, nowhere was I able to find out why Climate Check listed Fall River as the lowest risk in Massachusetts for climate change.

LOOK: The most expensive weather and climate disasters in recent decades

Stacker ranked the most expensive climate disasters by the billions since 1980 by the total cost of all damages, adjusted for inflation, based on 2021 data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The list starts with Hurricane Sally, which caused $7.3 billion in damages in 2020, and ends with a devastating 2005 hurricane that caused $170 billion in damage and killed at least 1,833 people. LOOK: The most extreme temperatures in the history of every state

Stacker consulted 2021 data from the NOAA's State Climate Extremes Committee (SCEC) to illustrate the hottest and coldest temperatures ever recorded in each state. Each slide also reveals the all-time highest 24-hour precipitation record and all-time highest 24-hour snowfall.
