FALL RIVER — A Fall River man has been arrested and charged with multiple firearms violations in connection to a shooting on Rt. 24 last week.

According to state police, 26-year-old Ricky Lorenzi has been arrested after troopers followed his car and discovered a loaded firearm inside it during a search.

State police said trooper Jacob Hass responded just after 10:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 to reports that a man in a vehicle had brandished a gun and shot at another vehicle on Rt. 24 north in Fall River.

Hass waited for the vehicle several miles north of where the incident allegedly took place, before following the suspect's Nissan Altima when it passed him, according to state police.

When the suspect's vehicle left Rt. 24 to get onto Rt. 44 and pulled into a gas station parking lot, Hass ordered the man to get out of his vehicle and onto the ground.

The driver — later identified as Lorenzi — was arrested without incident.

State police said troopers found a loaded .25 ACP pistol in "the immediate area" of the driver's seat.

Troopers said the alleged victim had damage on their vehicle consistent with a hole from a .25 caliber bullet.

Lorenzi is currently in custody at Ash Street Jail and is being charged with illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition, armed assault with a dangerous weapon, improper storage of a firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm.

He is set to be arraigned in Fall River District Court.
