Fall River Man Killed in Providence Strip Club Stabbing Identified
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Police have identified the 26-year-old Fall River man killed in a stabbing outside a Providence strip club early Saturday morning as father and youth football coach Stephon Calice.
Providence police said at a press conference Monday that Calice was the father of a four-year-old girl.
He was fatally stabbed outside the Cadillac Lounge after a fight between two groups broke out in the establishment's parking lot, according to police.
Police said Calice was with three others, all from Fall River, inside the club just before they had a confrontation with another group in the parking lot.
Three people followed the group from Fall River outside the club, where two of them had a physical altercation and Calice was stabbed, according to police.
Police noted the suspects involved fled the scene in two separate vehicles shortly thereafter.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the incident but no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been made.
Calice's friends rushed him to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police told reporters at the conference that the motive for the attack is unclear, and that the incident was over quickly.
Officials said Providence police investigators are working with Fall River police to try to find suspects.
The Providence Licensing Board ordered the Cadillac Lounge to close for 72 hours following the incident at an emergency meeting over the weekend.
The board has said it will take another look at whether the club should remain closed this week.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
