FALL RIVER — Gerardo Lugo, the Fall River man accused of fatally hitting a woman with his car earlier this month in Westport and fleeing the scene, is being held without bail.

Lugo was arraigned on multiple charges in Fall River District Court on Thursday and had bail set at $50,000 on charges connected to the hit-and-run that killed Stephanie Tripp, 30, of Fall River.

However, a judge ordered Lugo held without bail on a charge of trafficking more than 100 grams of heroin. Police raided Lugo's Fall River home after identifying him last week as the suspect in the hit-and-run and found nearly 200 grams of heroin.

Lugo faces a dangerousness hearing next week. He turned himself into the Westport Police Station on Wednesday after authorities publicly released his identity on Monday.
