Fall River Police Arrest 18-Year-Old on Multiple Gun and Drug Charges
An 18-year-old was arrested in Fall River Thursday on gun and drug charges after police say he was found carrying an illegal firearm.
According to Fall River Police, members of the vice, intelligence and gang detective units were conducting surveillance in the city’s South End on March 2 in response to a recent spike in shootings.
Police said detectives received information of a man in possession of an illegal firearm. They later encountered the man walking in the area of Palmer Street, but they said he ran when detectives identified themselves.
After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended.
Detectives searched the man, Lamahrion Colson, 18, and police said they discovered a black Taurus PT 99 AF Para firearm in his waistband, along with 17 bags of crack cocaine, seven bags of fentanyl, and $665 in cash.
Colson is charged with carrying a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license to carry, possession to distribute a Class A drug, and possession to distribute a Class B drug.
Police said detectives will also be seeking to charge Colson under the Armed Career Criminal statute.
