Fall River Hosting Santo Christo Feast This Weekend
Looking for a fun event for this weekend? Fall River has you covered with the Santo Christo Feast on Saturday and Sunday (June 29 and June 30).
If you are looking for a feast that not only celebrates Portuguese heritage, but also puts the Catholic Church at the center, this checks both boxes.
On Saturday at 6 p.m., a Portuguese solemn Mass preached by Bishop Cristiano Barbosa, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Boston, and concelebrated by the Very Reverend Jeffrey Cabral and other priests will kick off the weekend.
After the Mass is the Grand Procession of Promises, embarking on a route through Canal, Ferry, Mulberry, William and Grant streets. It will return to the church for closing prayers.
From 8:30 to 11 p.m., the night will close out with various feast activities and live music by Tony Borges & Euro.
On Sunday at 4 p.m., get ready for a Solemn Procession which will start on Columbia Street and venture through Hunter Street, William Street, Eagle Street and back to Columbia Street for the Solemn Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, which will include civil dignitaries, business leaders, cultural, and civic and sporting organizations happening in the church.
