Fall River Boys Caught in Stolen Rascal Cart on Route 24
FALL RIVER — Two juvenile boys were arrested Wednesday evening after police caught them joyriding on Route 24 in a stolen motorized scooter cart.
Fall River Police spokesman Det. Moses Pereira confirmed reports that two juveniles had taken a rascal cart from the Walmart down Brayton Avenue to Route 24.
The boys were caught on Route 24 south at around 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to Pereira.
They are facing charges of larceny over $1,200 and disturbing the peace.
Online commenters in a local Facebook group posted unconfirmed reports about the incident, including that Rt. 24 was briefly closed for the boys' safety while they were being apprehended.
They also posted dozens of jokes and several GIFs of various characters riding on scooters, including Beavis and Butt-Head and Dumb and Dumber.
It's unclear how far along the highway the kids managed to get, as most motorized scooter carts have top speeds of only around five miles per hour.
