Fall River Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested
FALL RIVER — A Fall River armed robbery suspect has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses after police found him with an unlicensed and loaded firearm early Saturday morning.
Police said that Officer Connor Levesque was on patrol in the city's Corky Row area at around 2:18 a.m. Saturday morning when a passerby flagged him down, reporting that a man had tried to rob her at gunpoint.
Levesque was able to spot the suspect walking near Morgan and Second Streets based on the description provided by the victim.
Police said the man, later identified as 40-year-old Adolfo Gonzalez, began running through the neighborhood when he saw Levesque.
The officer caught up to him on Whipple Street, where police said Gonzalez dropped a hard object later found to be a firearm.
He then continued to flee from police officers.
Officer John Aguiar was able to stop and arrest Gonzalez near Second and Marble Streets, according to police.
Police said the firearm Gonzalez allegedly discarded was a loaded 9mm handgun with a bullet in the chamber.
Gonzalez is not licensed to possess a firearm in the state.
He is being charged with possessing a large-capacity firearm, possessing a firearm while committing a felony, possessing ammunition, armed robbery, and resisting arrest.
